Come Together
friday: after work i went down to SF. my mom was puking her insides out so i had to get some sprite for her before i went. i was kinda guilty about leaving her... but it was just some food poisoning that other suffered from who ate what she did for lunch at work. anyways, it was Rene's birthday dinner in SF. so we met at Nathan's and left from there. it was eventually 6 of us in the car (Arash's car... a mercedes wagon) with Nathan sitting in the rear facing suicide seat. that was kinda fun. Arash (admitdely) drives like a lunatic when friends are in the car to make the ride more fun. w/e. next time... i drive.
as for dinner, it was good stuff. for starters, there were 23 people there. and we were crammed into 2 tables that fit 8 comfortably. so.. .we got cozy (very cozy). the food was good. we had a pizza (not a typical pizza) a seafood pasta thing with all sorts of seafoods in it. that was good. and chicken with lemon. and then there was the conversation... which was interesting to say the least. all in all it was a good time. the only thing that kinda sucked was the the birthday girl was at the other table... so we at our table didnt get to talk much with her... except for when she came over to visit once in a while.
Saturday: after dinner we went back to Nathans for a while and i left at about 20 to 2. i got to my aunts a little while later. this is where i slept.
the next day was spent pretty much setting up her wireless network. which was fairly simple and straightforward. i had my laptop with me and was able to immediately connect to her netwoork. her laptop, on the other hand, couldnt. as it turned out, the driver for her wifi card was not installed. after looking it up, i tried installing it. didnt work. as it turned out, she had a different card. so i installed that one. that didnt work. as it turned out, the driver for her card isnt even on the disc that came with her computer. how awesome. anyways, after several hours on the phone with a dell tech whos name i couldnt begin to pronounce we figured it all out.
we went out to eat at a japanese place where i had some sushi, chicken katsu and gyozas. i thought it was pretty good. but (see previous post about sushi place) once youve had the best, its hard to compare. after we ate i went back to get my stuff and set out for my grandma house to fix her TV. which took about 2.3 minutes, and left from there for home.
sunday: after some late night gaming i got up in preperation for many of the friends i hung out with fridjay to come up and visit me for a change. in all Nathan, Crystal, Ken, Lyla (Nathan's sister) Tim (her husband) and Eric and Jenna (their kids) came up. they came first to my house to settle in and meet my family. then we went downtown to eat. there they met Lacey and her boyfriend Bill. we ate at McNears, a local popular food place. its good stuff.
after lunch we parted ways and Lyla and her family went in search of a yarn store while Nathan, Crystal, Ken and I went to a park for Nathan to photograph it for homework. boring as it sounds, i rather enjoyed walking around that park for a while... just chatting and walking. despite the fact that it was rainy and such.
we picked up the rest of the party and caravaned back to my house and hung out for a while before eventually going to A&W for some rootbeer floats, where even more random chatting and whatnot occurred. from there they left Petaluma and returned home.
all in all, it was one of the most enjoyable wekends ive had in a looong time. i went out to eat 3 times, all three places were good and all three were good times. not to mention all the good times i had in between (or is it among?) those trips out for food. and i still owe lacey lunch.
