What I Got

The Lovers Card
You are the Lovers card. The Lovers card is about union. Each of us carries in our DNA the
ability to be the opposite of what we think we are. Often our romantic attachments grow out of
awe and respect as we see in another the characteristics we repress in ourselves. Society often presses us into molds of what it thinks masculinity and femininity should be. As a result, many of us associate with our gender certain positive characteristics and call others negative, when if these same qualities were held by a person of the opposite sex, our attitude towards them would be reversed. Getting in touch with our inner animus and anima, (Jung's terms for our inner male and female), allows us to see the whole of our personalities in a positive and constructive light. When you draw The Lovers card in a reading, you are working with balancing these forces. Depending on where the card is, you have either achieved balance or need to. The Lovers could indicate a romantic or even a platonic relationship. Ask yourself is this is a positive relationship that contributes to your growth as a complete human being, or if it fills an emotional craving within you that is actually detrimental to your personal growth. brought to you by Quizilla

and now for your regularly scheduled post:

so since last we spoke we've had 3 birthdays of note. that i can remember. first was melissa's. pretty un eventful except that her grandpa got hospitalized. sucks. next was my sisters, when her friends came over and wreaked havoc upon my home. luckily, my friends randomly joined the party and i am eternally greatful for them delivering me from the agony of having to actually deal with 5 or 6 out of control 12 year old girls

for my sister's birthday i got her dog fixed. arent i awesome? i guess Lacey halped a little with that.... thanks Lacey, youre awesome too. :-)

then came finals. oh joy. i think i did ok. in fact... lets go see if my grades are online....
brb...

anyways, so yeah, i guess i did good.
and i better have, it was because of my fucking finals that i missed the midnight showing of Star Wars..... the first one that i DIDNT see openening day. w/e. i saw it the last sunday with a bunch of my friends anyway, in a huge digital theater, so i dont really care. which brings me to the last birthday, Lyla's. that was the excuse for the star wars movie. actually not really. they just happened to coincide... anyways, that was good times. on saturday i hung out at th shop and did a little shooting. the super ahani brothers joined us there and i finally had some hawaiian drive inn. it was good. cant wait to sample more of the menu. then we went to Lyla's where i stayed the night. but not before Lyla came home from a wild night of clubbin' (you have no diea... not what you think.) anywho, after some midnighgt pizza, waking and then resending her kids to bed, and meeting and sending off 2 of her friends we finally got to sleep. only to get up early the following morning.

Ken joined us there at Lyla's and from there Tim, Lyla, Nathan, Crystal, ken, and I set off for the theater. the movie was awesome. kinda sad cuz i knew what was gonna happen and basically didnt wanna believe all those jedi just got slaughtered. *sigh* anyways, after that was the party back at Lyla's. mroe of her friends joined us there, and so ensued the flow of alcohol and pandelereum of mario tennis and Taboo. good. fuckin. times. we should do it more often.

oh, and go wish her ass a happy borthday.

Your Time Has Come

what a weird week this has been. i was talking to lyla about how much random sht has gone on this week. and maybe im just reading too much into it, but ive been surprised alot in the past seven days.

for starters, i hadnt talked to Bruna since..... since before my last blog post. and suddenly, she returned on thursday. that was pretty awesome, cuz i was really getting kinda worried. on friday my dad took us to the giants game. that wasnt so much of a surprise so much as it was me forgetting it was happeneing that day. so it sorta surprised me.... cuz i forgot. idiot. the game sucked. we got our asses kicked by the nationals, but after the game was an awesome fireworks show. after that we went to borders where i finally got some music ive been meaning to get. i got the debut albums from Audioslave and Kasabian and the latest from Queens of the Stone Age. i like them all. i also took the opportunity to get my mom a mothersday gift, which i was still undecided about. later that weekend i payed another visit to SF for mothersday brunch with family. after that we decided to head back to my grandmas and argue, so i went for a ride... i basically drove around Daly City a few times. (i was actually lookiong for a frog......) but he evaded me, and now, im afraid he'll be lost forever. :-( on tuesday a section of exhaust pipe broke on my car. for about an hour it sounded awesome.... just straight engine and no exhaust, but then the pipe finally came loose and started to drag. DAMNIT!! so i had to take the car in. the subsequent switch to the truck led to SURPRISE!!! 2 parking tickets at school. the first was because i forgot to put out my permit. the second cuz the permit that i remembered was blown over onto its face on my dash. DAMNIT. on wednesday, those tickets caught some wind and flew out of the window. DAMNIT!!!!! rewind to tuesday when melissa RANDOMLY asks if im free wednesday evening. she FINALLY decided to go get a coffee... after how many months? GEEZ! w/e it was good times, eventhough my computer crashed trying to connect to starbuck's hotspot. oh and speaking of the devil..... its her birthday today. so uh, go wish her a happy birthday. or..... something. im not gonna go there. oh and lets not forget today's random moment. im in class and i get text message. one word "itemens" WHAT!?!? ist from Rene. i respond. she responds. eventually she tries calling... just as i return back to class from break... so i call her back. when i tell her where i am, she begind laughing uncontrolably. WTF!?? i dont get whats so funny about a night class..... and she wasnt drunk. it was worse... she was on a sugar high. if you know rene, you know this is BAD. so yeah, that was an interesting conversation to say the least. awesome randomness.

anywho, on with the normal post. today was my last day of normal classes. next week is finals week and then im free for summer.... sorta. (theres still work) my classes have been pretty interesting this week. i spent art class tuesday hanging art for the student show (i think i have..... 2 or 3 projects or 4 or 5 pieces in it) all around the art wing and cafe. today was another free day for the class so i finally got started on my finatasy lanscape. we'll see how it goes. wednesday's phillosophy class was even weirder, the teacher was in an extra weird mood, but she went over the material that will be on the final... then proceeded to announce that she didnt care about due dates and tat we were free to turn in whatever on the final day. umm... ok. ive aced the tests and am not missing too many assignments so i should be ok. she let us go about an hour early. yay! and finally were my art history classes. they were pretty much business as usual... last material at the begining and final review at the end. at the end of my modern review we covered 2 pieces. site specific pieces. one of which was the vietnam memorial. i really like the story behind its origin. so i'll share it. there was a contest held as to what the memorial will look like. artists from all over the country submitted entries in hopes of winning the commission. the winning entry was submitted by Maya Lin, a senior at Yale. her entry was actually part of a school project and was submitted for the sole purpose of completeing her assignment. as it turned out, they liked her idea and gave her the commision. ironically, her teacher gave her a B. anyways, the design is pretty simple. its a wall. it cuts into theground and its sorta L shaped. also, it is low at either end and get progressively taller as it nears the corner of the L shape. the thing is, the names enscribed on the wall are not listed in alphabetical order, they are listed in chronogical order of date they were killed. "people arent killed in alphabetical order" she stated in her paper. so therefor it makes sense for the middle section to be thickest as it contains the highest consentration of deaths, also, her design called for the wall to be made of black marble. many criticised this choice and pleaded fopr a switch for white marble. but maya lin held her ground and kept the piece true to the design. in art white is a color of purity and inosence... theres nothing pure or inoscent about war. also, the black marble has a reflective quality, allowing visitors to see themselves in the wall. also, the engraved names have allowed for people to brung with them paper to make rubbings of the names they find, not to mention leave objects and artifacts at the wall. in fact, they have opened a museum nearbye to house all the ibjects left at the memorial, that must be an interesting colectiono indeed.

this was the last piece we looked at i got in my truck to drive home. turned on the radio. and on the radio was "Your Time Has Come" by Audioslave. the song title always reminded me of "you time is gonna come" by Led Zeppelin, so i subconsciously made a connection and assumed they had the same subject matter and more or less ignored the lyrics of the Audioslave song. but this time i took note of what was being said. this is the first verse i heard after the awesome guitar solo:

I've seen fifty thousand names all engraved on a stone
Most of them, met ‘em at a grave years before i was born
All of them left brothers and sisters and mothers behind
And most of their family and friends are alive
everytime

now i know exactly what the songs about. art history, not just for art anymore. quite a random coincedence. and speaking of which...... Audioslave is now on the radio. right now. as i type this. see!!! RANDOM CHANCE!!!!!! anyone else feeling luck?
